Following Health Care’s Black Swan

It’s time to consider a sudden or unexpected change in healthcare delivery, an evolution with impact that can become health care’s black swan.

This potential information revolution involves everyone in the health care community. And this pending transition isn’t focused on technology. Instead, it’s the “will to connect.”

The ‘Black Swan’ concept articulated by author Nassim Taleb in his 2007 book of the same name is an unforeseen event – one with profound impact and, in retrospect, recognized as inevitable. World War I, the PC age, and even the phenomenon of Harry Potter are examples.

See what else Jonathan Bush has to say about this black bird of health care.  He is Co-founder, President and CEO of athenahealthcare. He is also a keynote speaker at the National Healthcare Innovation Summit in Chicago June 15-17. His blog post first appeared in Healthcare IT News.
